Waiters, Tips, And Minimum Wage

Seemed to be an interesting topic... so of course there has to be a thread made

what if a waiter difnt get the minimum wage in an hour? couldnt he sue?

no there are special cases such as waiters, where they don't recieve minium wage because their salary is largley dependent on tips. If the waiter was no recieving tips, but they were working, then they should be entitled to minium wage

i think they should anyway, then the owner gets off to easy, and people have to pay more money, like paying extra on their meal....

I was a server @ Applebee's a while ago..I made $2.13/hour plust tips -3% tipout.. If for some God awful reason you didnt make minimum wage (you suck if you don't..get a new job), then the employer MUST pick up the slack! There is also a thing about if you don't make at least 10% in tips of your total sales for the day/night then the employer will (im not sure if its a must) usually pick up the slack there also.

Usually though, I was bringing home a minimum of $60.00 cash every night (usually around 100.00 on a weekend night...good cash flow for a college student) It's a decent part-time job to have if you have no other real choice (class hours suck). There's a bunch of bull**** you have to put up with too though, but if you have a good personality and don't let things get to you, then by all means go for it..anyone with a type S personality usually excels in this line of work (public relations).

but ya, drunk people tip really well..until they get to the "red" stage where you cut em off and call a cab, then they get pissed and try to walk out on their tab..

supposedly a good burger joint........but they didn't have them 20 years ago when I lived in CA, so I can't really comment on it

its this fast food place that makes angel burgers...OMG i have to go get some now... there like the perfect hamburger....meet in never frozen...real cheese...they make fries in front of your eyes...lettuce is cutevery minute...ahh
