I hope our Texas family members will be ok....looks like the storm is to the south, and hopefully will be only a storm rather than a hurricane. Any of you out there in the path?

she's little.....it'll be no problem.

We'll get some rain, and of course anytime there's rain in Houston it's almost like New Orleans it floods (guess that's what they get for buiding a major metropolitan in a bowl), but I don't think it'll be too much to worry about. Just so long as it isn't liek Allison a couple of years ago, that flooded out I-10 and major parts of the city....

I-10...shudder.....I hate driving that freeway cross country. West of San Antonio its an incredibly boring drive.

try the drive from Lake City to Pensacola.......the only thing there is Tallahassee to break it up....then it's bad again from about I-12 to West of Beaumont.....about 45 minutes outside of Houston it picks up again

I'm either being a little more lenient, or was willing to spend the time to delete the offending posts.......so I did so and re-opened it, either keep it on track or it will get closed again

Hip waiders or boats? I read San Antonio (sp) was getting it pretty hard....guess it will be the "river swim" rather than the river walk

right now it's just regular rain up where I live, we haven't really gotten any wind, and there's no flooding yet....I've been listening to the radio and no one has said anything about flooding or anything like that around town, so I'd have to say this is either a very VERY mild storm, or the worst is yet to come.

woke up this morning, and it looks a lot nicer out....the sky was calm, no rain right now...

looks pretty calm right now here in Houston, and it's pretty much gone. We'll still probably get some rain and some thunderstorms, but that's about it.

Roy, some people just don't understand that many hurricanes hit the bahamas, and cross into the Gulf area, hitting the Yucatan, and then are likely to hit the US anywhere from South Texas all the way back to FL (in the most extreme case of a 180 degree turn). While I don't think Texas sees as many hurricanes as say South FL, we do get our share...as does the rest of the Gulf Coast.
