if you shoot that much then you would need it, but if not then the simple answer is no, what position do you play and how much do you shoot, those tanks are basically made for back players

is the 88/4500 a lot heavier than the 68/4500 or are they close to the same weight?

Its not really much of a weight difference. I have an 88stubby, and its maybe an inch longer than a 68, so the comfort factor is about the same.
