Ok so I took out my IR3 for the first time this weekend and can't say I was impressed. I have been shooting a Dragon timmy for awhile now and have NEVER, EVER broke paint with it, no matter what paint I used. I was shooting Zap Chronic at Taneytown on Sunday through the IR3 and would break about 1 in 10 balls. Obviously there is something wrong with the gun so I am hoping that someone can help.

Specs:

C&C IR3 - MEM2 Stock everything

27k on the counter.

Ball detent is there but does seem to have a flat spot on it,
checked feed and it didn't seem to be double feeding.

Using JT .690 back with 10" tip (paint actually fit .688 but I moved up to see if it would help)

WDP mini reg

68/45 Maxflow system

HALO B

Can someone offer some insight into possible causes for chopping like it was? It was very humid out but on the flip side of that I played with my Dragon in 98% humidity and never had a problem. Let me know what you think as this thing is currently slated for sale unless someone can show me something to remove this issue all together (oh and it broke with cops on or off).

Like the IR3 feel but need a reliable gun and so far I am not impressed.

most likely it's your HALO...because the HALO is a force feed hopper it has been known to push the first ball a little to far forward, sometimes the second ball is dropping as well. if your ball detent is not tight enough or is worn down I'm sure this would only help to compound the problem, try a rev with X-board, and see what happens

Thanks I do have another ball detent I can try as well. I will try my revvy as well and see.

J. - yup I was there wearing red/black smart parts jersey with the red C&C. Will be back next weekend as well if the weather holds. Probably on Saturday. Email me as the weekend comes and perhaps we could meet just to say hi in person.

I have mentioned this before. Hopefully this is not your problem:

Pull you feed neck off and check to see if it is crimped at the end by dropping some balls through it. If you overtighten the feed neck via cramming the halo into it you can pinch it off. I don't know the exact measurements of the feed neck tube but it should be considerably larger than any paintball. If they hang up even slightly then this is your problem. Chopping as often as you say you are this is most likely it. I use a halo b without the aid of cops. I added a larger o-ring to the ball detent to back it all the out to the point were it just holds the ball. The bolt passes over it seemlessly. I typically hit 12-13 bps during play and I never ever chop balls or have double feed problems. Here's the link to a previous post on this.
