this is something I read on WARPIG a long time ago and just tried with my infinity barrel.....spray the inside of the barrel with rain-X. You know, the stuff that goes on your windshield and repels water. It makes an invisible, super slick coating on the surface of the barrel. I just sprayed some through there and ran a squeegee through. My FPS increased because of less friction in the barrel and when I forced the gun to chop (sensi off) the barrel cleaned up so much faster because the paint beaded up and shot right out! This is awesome, and I think I may not have to carry a squeegee anymore (though I prolly will anyways). Give it a shot!!!

cool....i think im gonna try this!Does anyone know if this would harm the barrel in anyway?

sounds interesting, might have to trademark that idea. put any company that makes squeeges out of business.

DON'T DO IT!!!

if you read on the package it says not to put it on plastics or unapproved lenses. this is because it will take off the protecting or finishing layer. There fore, this will probably take off the finishing inside your barrel

i am not so sure that it would effect the barrel... lenses are made of a polycarbonate (lexan) and the finish on your barrel is usually a hard anodizing which is a electrochemical process... using the mose scale of hardness which ever is harder will not be scratched by the other... example can you scratch a diamond with glass.... or can you scratch glass with a diamond... velocity does become a factor but hardness ie shell vs aluminium is the golden rule

plus....who cares if the finishin come off?

it won't harm the finish....I did this with my cocker barrel for a while a couple years ago and it was fine. I just now remembered it and it still works great. And it says nothing on the bottle about harming metals or annodized surfaces.

There aren't that many chemicals that will just strip off annodizing. Rain-X just fills in all the little bumps in your barrel's interior surface, giving it a smoother finish. My only worry would be if it clumped up somewhere, it could kill accuracy the same as having paint in the barrel.

I've done this with barrels forever....all it does is wax the barrel basically. Now don't go putting it on your lenses, that's just dumb.

Don't use rain-x on your goggles.
It may ruin the plastic, or worse, weaken the lexan to make it dangerous!
Use Plexus on your lenses.
Just spray on and wipe clean.
It does leave a slightly slick surface that makes cleanup easier.
As for your barrels, you could also use auto wax/glaze inside, unless you have a Scepter, which has a teflon coating.

plexus ROCKS on the lenses, and the rain-x is SOOO pro in your barrel it works realy well i would tell anyone to use it :)

will it throw off accuracy at all?? and wont that make your gun save more gas?? great idea ima trademark this in my area probubly. If it dosnt work too good is there a way to clean it out?

yes it will work on any barrel.

I can't believe that you guys have never heard of this before, heck I was doing it at least 5 years ago, and it wasn't new then.

Boomsticks will work fine, stainless and ceramics work the best tho.

how often do u have to "coat" it with the Rain-X???

bacon bitz
07-05-2003, 02:12 PM
twice every 20 balls, so basically if you have a speed, then you need to coat it every quarter of a second.......

JK, but that is a good question, I too am wondering that

Spray your barrel, pull a squeege through to get the excess out, and then play...

yeah I love it, and like Emmit said this is not a new idea. I just remembered it and though I would run it by you guys.

I really don't have a problem with breaks on any of my guns but tried Rain-X out to see what happens. Rain-X does seem to make it easier to shoot through breaks - at least I think I had a break and it cleared in one or two shots. There's a concern that as the coating starts to wear off it may adversely affect accuracy. I haven't found this to be the case but it's a consideration.

Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and Auto Parts place....it's pretty common

as for removing it....well I don't know, I think you might be able to run hot water down the barrel and see how that does...read the back of the bottle and see what it says about removing it, although I don't think they've ever had anyone want to remove it after putting it on their windshields so I don't know if they've come up with a way to remove it yet.

The longbow is great and all... It's for my cocker, and it has a boomstick. Thanks Emmit, I will look into getting some.

so what r the pros and cons to doing it? how much will it up ur fps if any? i got an ultra-light ide like to do it to if its with it

bunkertime

Well like they said earlier. It's like having paint oil in ur gun except it's more of a wax so the paint shoots out easier. Personaly i havn't had ne problems with my freak except paint getting under the insert when i chop with my impy. um... yea.

Also when u aply this stuff. I found that wut u do is spray it in, let it sit for a little to form a thin layer like waxiung ur car then use a jerk squigiee (the kind with the soft stuff at the end) that way it takes out the exass and buffs it.
As for upping ur FPS, i doubt it will do ne thing sinc it's ur gun not ur barrel. Um.... i mean if u have large bore paint and small bore barrel thats one thing, just get the right paint to barrel match and you'll be set.
It should work on ur ultra light. I'll see u at the spot when a 3 man comes along flash

I tried Rain-x before on my barrels. Unfortunately the only i would break is when i'd chop, so a whole lot of paint was all over thebolt and the breech, so rain-x effects were minimal. I'm going to start using it agian though
