View Full Version : Running Air too low?

I'm still a bit new to the AIR tank so bare with me on this one. I know that the tank is supposed to run between 500-650 on the angel, but the velocity (for my tank) is simply too high around 500-550. I have to end up running it at 400-450 to stay within the velocity limits. The velocity adjuster on the mini reg basically does nothing for me. Maybe the spring stack was set to low pressure before I got it? I am really stumped on what to do, so any advice is welcome.

it's no prob for the air to run it at 450, hell you can even run it at 200 if you're a bit technical.
what minireg do you have? I would check the springstack if i were you..

what type of Angel are your running the AIR on?
I've found the AIR is most consistant around 600-650 with the standard 12 spring set up for High Pressure output. You are able to change your spring stack inside the AIR reg to 10 springs, and go with a lower output pressure. There is another thread where I took a picture of the page in the manual that shows you how to stack the springs for both setups. Take a look at it, and decide which setup you want to run.

I agree with Burley and Emmit. There is no problem with running the AIR at a lower pressure if that is what it takes to keep your marker within velocity limits at your field. I personally run my AIR at 430 psi for a 300 fps chrono. You can check your spring stack configuration easily enough, just reference what you see as the stack with the pic that Emmit posted in another thread from the AIR Manual. If you can't find his post, I believe you can see the same thing in the Downloadable Manuals section.

Duracell.....you might want to do a couple of things. First and foremost recalibrate your AIR reg. Empty the tank, and unscrew the bottle. Then remove the batteries and let it sit for a few minutes, then put the batteries back in. When you replace the batteries you'll have to reset the reg. Do this without the tank on. You have to push the button for a few seconds until it resets itself. Depending on how long you've had the reg, or how old it is, you might want to consider replacing the batteries completely. After you've done this with your AIR reg, you need to check your spring stack, since you've already got the bottle off the reg, why not remove the bottom plate, and check your rocket o-rings. Put it all back together, and then get a fill.
If that still doesn't solve your problems check your minireg, and make sure it's working properly.
These are about all I can tell you for now without saying send the rig to someone to look over completely, and that would include your marker and AIR reg.

700 is fine, WDP actually reccommends running 700-800 psi into the iR3 and older mini reg. Duracell actually sounds like hes running a gutted mini reg.
